Picture 6 - Looking west during a chimney fire. Just in front of the fire engine, a pillar box can be seen. It was situated outside the village post office run by the Cook family. The white building on the right was the cooperative, with the police house at its near end, the drapery at the far end and the grocery in the middle.To the rearof the drapery was the butcher's. The children's playpark and toilet block were directly opposite the cooperative. |
